31.05.2021: Polish language courses for citizens of third countries
Polish language fluency is needed to function in every social sphere. Without it, it’s difficult to navigate in the professional and educational sphere. Verbal communication is required to deal with many daily matters, such as shopping or visits to the pharmacy and the government offices etc. Fluency in the language of the receiving country is fundamental for successful adaptation and integration.
The project course lasted from December 3rd 2020 to May 29th 2021. There were three course groups, 12 persons each. Each group had 60 teaching hours conducted over 5 months. 34 foreigners completed the course.
The courses were addressed to foreigners with various levels of Polish fluency – at different advancement levels with an option to add a specialist module (for groups working in the same sector).
Tasks related to the courses were commissioned to an experienced language school, which provided tutors with practice in teaching the Polish language.
The course was conducted by tutors with extensive experience in teaching Polish as a second language. Diagnostic tests were conducted among the participants before they were assigned to an adequate teaching level.
The program of the course focused on practical use of Polish and it was combined with matters related to Polish history and culture, existing cultural differences, information about the region and various institutions. The tutors encouraged the participants to learn speaking and writing while taking their individual potential and abilities into consideration.
Due to the pandemic, classes where conducted in the hybrid mode.
At the end of the course, the participants received Polish language course completion certificates.
