17.08.2021: School year preparations
Summer break is on! Children rest, visit interesting places and do fun activities both in Poland and abroad. They gather strength and energy to get back to their schools with recharged batteries.
Foreigners, who visit Poland to take up employment, decide to bring their families to the Republic of Poland more and more often. In Poland, school education is mandatory for all children aged 6-18, including children of foreigners. Therefore, they attend educational facilities from September to June, and during the summer holidays they are happy to travel back to their homelands. In the meantime, parents also go on holiday to “charge their batteries” for the new school year as well as another year of work. The second half of August is the time for parents to start thinking about school, and for some it’s only the beginning of their school adventure, because it’s the first time their children go to kindergartens or schools.
In order to meet the needs of foreigners’ children, the Office for Foreigners set up a special e-mail address, where foreigners can obtain information about education. Due to the fact that there are many similar questions about basic matters related to education of foreign children in Poland, the Office for Foreigners has prepared a special material with information about education of foreign children. There, you can find answers to many questions related to the Polish school system, for example, about the rules of accepting children to schools, recruitment deadlines, required documents, support measures and schooling obligation.
The information material is in 10 languages and can be downloaded on the website of the Office for Foreigners: https://udsc.gov.pl/edukacja-dzieci-cudzoziemskich-informator/
If you don’t find the information satisfactory, you can still e-mail the Office or Foreigners or get in touch with it by phone.
