04.2021 r. – Multiculturalism and antidiscrimination workshop:

Multiculturalism and antidiscrimination workshops started this April as part of the project. They include five course groups, in which migrants, as well as representatives of the receiving society, will learn about multiculturalism and antidiscrimination.

Aims of the workshops include:

  • Educate the local society about multiculturalism and antidiscrimination,
  • Bring out sensitivity and develop antidiscrimination and multicultural competencies,
  • Strengthen attitudes of openness and commitment to the integration process,
  • Promote the chance to get to know the receiving society and the migrants,
  • discover selected differences and similarities between migrants from different cultural backgrounds and the receiving society.

The course includes discussions on migration and the scale of that phenomenon as well as selected cultural differences and their impact on stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination.  During the workshops, consequences and examples of discrimination are going to be presented along with ways to combat those phenomena and deal with them. Moreover, people who experienced unfair treatment will learn about ways of obtaining legal protection. The organizer, together with the participants, will also focus on the subject of hate speech and hate crimes, their legal and emotional consequences for the perpetrator and the victim. Together, they will discuss the need to stand together with migrants and react to violence against them. It shall be expressed as attitudes of civic responsibility and mutual creation of values on the basis of respect towards human rights and diversity. It will also be an appropriate moment to discuss good practices in terms of supporting equal treatment attitudes, recognizing and reacting to discrimination, helping individuals who have experienced discrimination and reacting to discrimination effectively.

Workshop duration – 3 teaching hours.
